SUMMARY:
Provides expert administrative support for attorneys and management in legal office.  Independently completes tasks relevant to overall law office administration including, but not limited to, typing and preparation of workers' compensation legal correspondence and documents (self-composed or from both dictation and written notes); creating and maintaining attorney calendars using electronic diary entry and case management systems; scheduling appointments, meetings and other legal events; organizing and maintaining legal files; and responding to client requests, with little or no supervision and guidance from attorney(s) supported.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Accurately prepares advanced or complicated forms, pleadings, memoranda and other documents of high complexity from dictation, drafts or handwritten notes from attorney(s), utilizing Microsoft Word and/or case management system.
Independently composes correspondence and other documents.
Proficiently utilize case management system for electronic data management of legal files as directed by department procedures and protocols.
Receive and docket incoming mail for attorney(s) as mandated by office procedures,
Create, maintain and manage attorney diaries and court calendars, utilizing electronic diary and case management systems.
Maintain legal files in accordance with legal program and office standards.
Serve as a liaison between clients, attorneys, other departments, units and organizations, by furnishing and requesting information on various files.  Interact and manage relationships and coordinates activities.
Participate in positive resolution of problems.
Schedule depositions, court reporters, independent medical examinations, pre-trial conferences, etc. and coordinate time and dates while working with multiple parties¿ schedules.  Monitor calendars and coordinate updates and adjustments as needed.
Perform complex legal secretarial tasks, which may include compiling legal data from various sources; preparing complex documents and special reports; creating, organizing and maintaining legal files; recordkeeping; and creating complex spreadsheets, charts and presentations.
Independently process and track invoices, bills and expense reports.  May provide assistance, analysis, research or follow-up for reimbursements.
To be used as a technical resource by less experienced legal secretaries.  Assist other secretaries and support staff personnel as requested.  Support a unit or practice group leader; may assist or backup office administrator; may assist with checking account.
Manage and troubleshoot office equipment with internal and external vendors.
Serve as backup to LA/LOA as needed for office administration.
Ability to compose unit-specific documents (e.g., subpoenas, depositions, summaries, briefs, motions, etc.) using advanced knowledge content, style, and format/layout.

EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:
High School Diploma or its equivalent required
Associates Degree or vocational secretarial training desirable
Minimum 6 years experience as a Legal Secretary required, or consistently high level performance
Prior corporate experience desirable
